A Heartfelt Communal Effort Brought Together by Essential Roles

Our week continued into Saturday, what we expected to be a calmer day, most certainly was not! We had helos in the air from the moment we stepped on the tarmac. Missions are critical at this point providing specific medications to individuals in needs, warm weather clothing as the seasons begin to change, and necessary food and water continue to be scarce in pockets of communities.

Standing Strong Together: Hoodsly’s Mission to Help Victims of Hurricane Helene

At Hoodsly, community has always been at the heart of what we do. When Hurricane Helene devastated Western North Carolina, leaving behind widespread destruction and hardship, we knew we had to act. The mountain towns impacted by the storm hold a special place in our hearts, with many of our employees and their families calling these areas home. The damage has been devastating, but the overwhelming support from the community has been just as powerful, and we are fully committed to doing our part in the recovery efforts.

From Small Non-Profit to Lifeline: Your Donations Are Saving Lives

Your donations to our organization, Hope Mill, this week have turned a small non-profit into a legitimate player in the disaster recovery mission of our state. We have been in regular contact with state and local officials impacting where, how, and what is being distributed to those in need. Because we are nimble, connected and stubborn, we have fought through the difficulties agencies throughout the state (intentional or not) have placed on distributing aid to those that need it.

Inspired by Hope – Standing Together with Hurricane Helene Survivors

What a week it has been. We are exhausted, but we are inspired. In every town we touch down, we see endless support from neighbors caring for one another. Their resolve is endless, and we are beginning to see the light at the end of the first tunnel. Basic needs are being met, access to food, water and medicine is becoming more common. The air traffic over the mountains is astounding. If you have a plane and are in the state of North Carolina, it feels like you are heading to one of the airports near the recovery efforts. The pilot community has delivered in exceptional numbers and the impact is real.

Fueled by Your Support: Honoring the Heroes on the Front Lines of Relief

We are absolutely humbled by the outpouring of support that continues to bless our mission. Your donations are allowing us to add fuel to helicopters, planes, and trucks that are working endlessly to deliver supplies to those in need. Donations are allowing us to fill gas cans, carry generators, provide equipment to the front line workers pushing the boundaries of how hard humans can work to fulfill their mission. These men and women are heroes. The heroes that could easily get down the mountains, enjoy electricity and running water, the things I take for granted while writing this.

Standing Together to Uplift Our Brave Mountain Communities

Our transition to Lincoln County Regional Airport felt seamless as we were welcomed this morning into an existing operation that received a welcome boost. We moved helos and planes at a feverish pace throughout the day. We touched communities that have not been contacted, we supported growing supplies in Elk River, West Jefferson, Newland, Spruce Pine, Rutherfordton, and beyond, we sent trucks to Burnsville, Newland, Boone, West Jefferson, Banner Elk, Linville, and areas along the way.

Your Incredible Support is Bringing Hope to Isolated Communities in Western NC

Your donations continue to pour in, and we continue to be in awe. Our reach is growing as we hear about more isolated communities, more people in dire need of medical supplies, baby supplies, food and water. The funds we are receiving are being deployed in near real-time as we identify new areas that have not been contacted. Your continued sharing of friends and family in need help us identify our missions. We are reaching small communities that have no option but to wait for help, and we are cutting the line to jump in and assist.
