Today we were able to move forward with eleven tiny homes, one immediately available, ten arriving in less than two weeks. We will furnish these homes with essentials – beds, heaters, and storage. We are working with families that have submitted an application through our website, as well as families we have supported along the way. These homes will save lives with winter fast approaching and temperatures falling into the 30s.
We have been disappointed with the initial feedback we are receiving from FEMA applicants. A quick story to bring the safe home impact full circle. We are working with a family who had their mobile home moved 20 feet from its foundation during the storm. He currently owes $68,000 on the mobile home, and it has been rendered uninhabitable. FEMA has offered $2,700 total for his storm damage. He owns the property and a safe home will be placed on his property to allow him shelter during these difficult times. But the response from authorities is currently inadequate. He does not have a job to return to, cannot cover his bills, and now cannot afford to rebuild his home. In the coming days, we will tell his story, we will set up additional opportunities to give to directly support his cause and the hundreds of others we are hearing similar stories from.
These are unprecedented times in the impacted areas. This rebuild will take years, and we are going to be here to support as many impacted families as we can. Thank you for joining us, and thank you for your continued support. Please share this campaign and keep the impact going strong.
