Providing Warmth and Safe Homes for Families Rebuilding

This week, cold temperatures have had a significant impact on those without power and fuel sources for heat. As mentioned previously, our attention has quickly turned to heaters, generators, and warm clothing, in addition to the chainsaws and fuel we have been supplying along the way. Many locations throughout the high country are inundated with general supplies, but specific needs are still being met.

Our focus today was providing housing solutions to those displaced. We will sponsor families with a newly designed “safe home” (think tiny home) with a prototype being delivered tomorrow. Because of your support, we will be able to house families in an insulated small home with essentials to survive while they focus on rebuilding their lives. These are not easy stories to tell. Many families have lost everything, including family members, but we believe in them and their resilience. Once everyone is safe, we will tell their stories, the best way they can be told – directly from them. Your support has made a difference in countless lives in the high country of North Carolina, and we will continue to make an impact because of your generosity. Thank you again and again, and thank you to those that have continued to support. We couldn’t make the impact we are making without you.

Rebuilding Lives & Resting Places in Yancey County

HopeMill is collaborating with other local nonprofits to help facilitate and fund a dual project in Yancey County this summer. By donating, you will be assisting with funding to restore the Whitson cemetery, including: purchasing replacement tombstones, caskets, restoration services, and landscaping for the cemetery, as well as helping Haley’s family rebuild.
